THE GREAT GATSBY
AN AMERICAN CLASSIC

“The rhythm of the weekend, with its birth, its planned gaieties, and its announced end, followed the rhythm of life and was a substitute for it.” ~ F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby, written by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald, was first published in 1925. Set on Long Island’s North Shore and in New York City from spring to autumn of 1922, the novel takes place following WWI when American society enjoyed prosperity during the “roaring” 1920s as the economy soared. The Modern Library named it the second best novel of the 20th Century.
